AA warns young drivers about trainee driving instructors

A recent study by AA motor insurance has found that many young drivers are being taught by trainee driving instructors who are not yet fully qualified.

The study revealed that many of the young drivers would like to know if the driving school they are with are using trainee instructors.

But the law states that trainee instructors can give lessons to pupils after passing the advanced practical and theory tests, and that they can take the exam later. They only need to display a pink badge on their cars windscreen.

The problem lies here, the past rate of the final exam is only 30 per cent, which means that trainee driving instructors can teach their pupils even before they are a fully qualified driving instructor.
