Ensure Non-European Cover Says Esure
Published: 19/07/08
Good advice from Esure for anyone planning to drive in an non-EU country is to ensure their insurance policy has the required extension included. Otherwise they may well find themselves driving uninsured.
An Esure spokesperson clarified the situation, that all cover is lost upon driving in a none European Union country unless the insurance provider is advised accordingly and an arrangement is put in place. Not sorting anything out would result in driving illegally in a foreign country, leading to potentially disastrous consequences.
This scenario is not an issue when taking a hire care as they will normally provide separate insurance that is suitable for the country the car is being used in. However, with more and more people travelling to more diverse locations it is certainly wise to make a call to the insurance company, like Esure, in the planning stage of a trip to make sure these things many people take for granted are actually in place.
