Uninsured drivers deserve higher fines says Direct Line
Direct Line motor insurance has expressed their dislike concerning the low fines given to uninsured drivers because they are not enough to stop them from driving again without insurance cover.
The Government's Enforcement programme fines offenders automatic £100 but if they pay promptly it goes down to as little as £50.
Uninsured drivers cost the British public around £500 million each year.
Recent figures from the Department for Transport state that five per cent of vehicles in the UK do not have a valid insurance policy.
